Slat Panel, Stronger!

slat panels, sometimes especially for pitch > = 120cm, they may tend to bend. this sample consists of a bacth of 5 slats welded together. the idea is that we would supply two items= 5 slats together or 1 slat. this would allow to fit any upright height, in a quicker and stronger manner.

option 1 will be shown in a newsletter next week: slats may still be supplied independently but a vertical strengthner can be installed on site.

Caem Event October 11th

During last Sales Meeting I told you Caem will be giving a Special Event to celebrate the 50th anniversary, but I could not give you any detail as we were still thinking how and where to organize it.
Finally I can confirm you the that the date will be October 11th and the location Arezzo.
It will be a special occasion in which Caem will invite all its Members and their families to spend a day together and enjoy our huge company party.

Working at Caem can be Glocal! Alessandro Lomonico move to Oz

Alessandro Lomonico, 25, works at Caem Italy since 3 years. He studied up to the age of 19 at the local technical mechanical school, the same Nedo did at his age. He heard about a working oportunity in Caem Australia, asked for details and now ACCEPTED: he will move to Australia in May08 to permanently work there!
He understood how global Caem is, he understood the menthality you need to build on yourself to achieve success in todays' world... and he's now going to seriously broaden his oportunities.
Phil offered him a job in the warehouse, and, as Caem Australia is growing fast, new jobs will be offered to Alessandro in the near future.
Because Alessandro is leaving the known for the unknown, Caem Italy has guaranteed that, if he wishes to come back in the next 3 years, he will have his job back: this comfort has helped him taking the decision.

Steel cost Increase - dramatic!

Roberto is just back from a trip around suppliers of steel. Suppliers are confirming all suspects we had before sending the newsletter:
- they do not quote steel for deliveries after July - they have no informations whatsoever. Future is pitch black.
- the immediate increase is high (it's not just 5% it's more than 20%)
- in return this is "good news". Why?

1. the most pulling economy of the world is china
2. if china buys the steel before us, we get what's left, therefore we have to pay something more. In this case the increase would be around 3 to 7%
3. in this case, the increase is so dramatic that is originated BEFORE chna purchases. Therefore our chinese competitors will suffers exactly the same amount we do.

as you may know, the increase of cost of steel in transferred to the customer by us without making a margin on it. this means that is steel increase of (ie) 100%, our shelving may increase (ie) 70%.

Gondola Tops - Twisting and Sliding

Hi Rae,
actually we have tested two solutions:
a)Thicker sheet for gondola tops: the solution is good, they tend to be more straight. We have worked two coils with good results but we had an enormous amount of coils stocked that have to be finished. The problem is that the cost of the component will raise a bit (0,8 mm vs 1,0 mm)
b)In the last two months we have started to over bend the tops and, as you have said, they behave better with respect to the sliding of the top.
If you think that solution b may be sufficient then we may stop here. Eventually we may follow also solution a.

CAEM Mag System

Our client, The Cooperative, have 700 stores to refit in 2008, 700 stores in 2009 and 450 in 2010 due to a merger of United Coop and TCG (The Cooperative Group).

They want to use the CAEM Mag system in their stockrooms for all stores.

The volume for this year will be between 3,500 - 7,000 bays.
H=250cm
D=50cm
P=100cm
5 shelves per bay

New Ivory finish

I believe it's a beautiful finish. at the moment we are:

1. trying to minimize fingerprints
2. getting great results on anti scratch (better than before!)
3. checking what happens when we over spray old ivory (thinkinh of the change)
4. waiting the new painting system of Castelnuovo. Each oven has a slightly different result so the ivory we'll introduce to the market will be the final castelnuovo ivory. due to be visible in June

Quotations: by unit or by facing?

In improving MyShop, we're giving much importance to the logic of quotations. Forget about Gondolas... our customers are interested in CORRIDORS! especially the big users, customers tend to work with "profile books". Today, we build our books of wall units and gondolas. The problem is from site to site, the combination changes between what's in side A and what's in side B of the gondolas: we must rethink our quotation philosophy.

In a book of 200 facings, 150 may be gondola facings. This may generate thousands of combiantions of gondola elevations!

1. build a book of facings
2. quote facings with quantities of facings
3. add just before the bottom line "uprights": those will be counted seeing the layout... nevermind the differenct combinaons of facings among the gondolas
