Caem has secured the order for the Roadchef refurbishment program for 2008 for 20 motorway service stations.

New Caem Shop in Borgo Valsugana

Last week Daniele Andreini (Caem customer support), Alessandro Nocentini (Caem customer support) and I were in borgo Valsugana, a small village near Trento to train and help to the assembly of a new shoe shop.
It is 100% Infinity and as you can see from the pictures it has the main advantage that backpanels are quite touching and slots are quite invisible.

Marino back with CAEM

Marino fa mercato, the generalist big size stores of cheap products, is back with Caem. After the 90s stores with Caem, marino concentrated not in new openings but in new buying markets for their customers: china.
When opening the new store in Subbiano - right in front our new factory- in 2005, they tried Chinese shelving.
Now they have 3 planned openings for a total of 15000 sq mt, MrMarino called Vivi: please can I have your shelving - that Chinese crap I got enough - it's impossible to do business with that fixture.
Marino is all basic shelving, all 9006.

Musgrave Group

The Musgrave group have asked us to tender for the UK shelving supplier business, we have tendered for this business 2 years ago when it was Londis.
The other companies are Tego with the reversed bracket stating it is 25mm pitch.
Arneg with IMZ25 and Radford who are the current supplier but due to poor supply issues look unlikely to retain this business, the have had £1.1m worth of orders in the last 18 months.
In Ireland, Centra retailers achieved combined sales of €1.2 billion, up 17 per cent. 2006 was also a record year for SuperValu’s retailers in the Republic of Ireland, with sales in excess of €2 billion for the first time, up 11 per cent.Daybreak and DayToday sales in the convenience market across the island of Ireland increased by 16 per cent to €264 million. In Northern Ireland, SuperValu and Centra retail partners achieved strong growth in sales of €474 million, up eight per cent on 2006. Caem Store Design has just begun trading with the N.I section last month with the 40mm TN9 without any issues. In Great Britain Budgens and Londis retailers recorded robust sales of €2.6 billion. The independently owned Budgens stores performed particularly well and recorded sales growth of 88 per cent. In Spain, SuperValu and Dialprix independent retailers recorded sales of €113 million, up eight per cent in 2006.The start of 2007 has seen our businesses performing in line with or ahead of budget.

Marmon Group

The Marmon Group had a large stand at the Euroshop exhibition and own Eden which are competition for us on a global scale.

Recent news for everyones info;

"Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.A, BRK.B) and Marmon Holdings, Inc. announced that Berkshire has successfully completed its acquisition of 60% of Marmon for $4.5 billion. The remaining 40% of Marmon will be acquired through staged acquisitions over a five to six years. Marmon Group is an international association of more than 125 manufacturing and service businesses".

Tesco delays US store openings

Supermarket giant Tesco is to delay opening Fresh & Easy Neighbourhood Market stores in the US for three months as an expert claimed the retailer was experiencing huge stock shortages.
Tesco, the UK's largest retailer with more than 2,800 stores in 12 countries, said it intended to use the pre-planned break to smooth out unspecified problems at existing US stores.
"It's an opportunity to take a step back," spokesman Brendan Wonnocott said. "We'll be smoothing out any wrinkles that exist."
Tesco has opened 59 Fresh & Easy stores in California, Nevada and Arizona since early November.
Mr Wonnocott said company sales and growth were going as planned, but retail consultant Jim Hertel said the stores had been riddled with inventory problems and probably were not meeting sales goals.
Stores visited by his researchers appeared to be logging about 50,000 dollars (£26,000) a week in sales, well below the 200,000 dollars (£105,000) investors had expected, he said.
"We weren't alone in terms of questioning the prudence or maybe even the sanity of continuing to roll it out without the opportunity to fine-tune," said Mr Hertel, who recently completed a report on the chain's prospects in the Phoenix, Arizona, market.

They have interduced a new four post system with pallet included.

Lloyds Pharmacy

Lloydspharmacy is the leading community pharmacy chain in the UK with over 1,600 pharmacies across the country. These are based predominantly in community and health centre locations. The company employs over 13,000 staff and dispenses 100 million prescription items annually.

Their existing supplier JDS formally known as Clair’s has gone out of business, leaving a great opportunity for Caem to secure this lucrative business.

We have more and more products that are left and right handed. We seem to have never marked on the product which hand it is which causes confusion for production, warehouse and the customer.

Is it possible to find a method to mark products left or right hand?

The demanding Retail Industry

We have news from a shopfitter in the UK that are dealing with Sainsburys (one of the major supermarkets here) that they have sent out a letter to all suppliers asking for 20% reduction in all prices.

This is an example on the current trend of demanding powerful retailers in the present economy with all costs continuing to increase.
